Go Rydell - The Golden Age LP Delayed, Available for Free in Digital Store

This Tuesday marks the “official” release of Go Rydell’s “The Golden Age” on LP and CD. I say “official” because both the LPs and CDs are currently being pressed and so we will have to delay pre–orders until they get in which should be very shortly. Anyone who pays attention to limited colored vinyl pressings knows that the labels are at the mercy of the pressing plants, and this is no different for us. We'll have updates as we get them. The CDs that you see in our store were actually the first 100 that we got pressed, but the band amazingly blew through those on tour (kinda one of those good but bad situations) and we are playing the waiting game on reinforcements. That being said, what matters is the music, and anyone who preordered the record will be getting a digital download of the record sent to them today. All physical pre–orders will have a little something extra for the wait. If you’ve heard the record is good but wanna try before you inevitably buy, you can check out the two week long donation based download of the record at the Black Numbers Digital Store.

PJ Bond wants to work with you

PJ asked us to post up this open letter to any/all PJ Bond fans with a knack for design/art/video production/etc:

    hello all,

i want to call all people who are feeling creative and looking for something to make and/or contribute to this summer. my goal is to get as many people trying new ideas and hopefully being able to not only showcase it for them but also to have it play a part in what i do. the two main things i’m thinking of are videos and t-shirts/posters. if you’re interested, please get in touch. pjbondmusic@gmail.com

    t-shirts/posters:
i need new designs for t–shirts/posters and have a few pretty sweet ones on hold, but would rather work with someone else and create something fun together. so, if you can draw, use visual computer programs, or have any other ways to create t–shirt/poster designs, i have ideas, would love to hear yours and have printing presses at my disposal. i’m currently working at a print shop that does awesome stuff and have been given full access to all of their shirt and poster print areas as well as to the materials, so it seems a shame to not utilize this awesome tool.

    videos:
i really want to amass a great deal of video content and think it’d be really sweet to have a video for each song from my album. sonic youth (as well as i’m sure a load of other bands) have done this and i really like the idea. i’m currently working on live videos and video shorts, but i also think that me making videos for these songs isn’t the best idea because i’m too close to them. i know what all of the nuances of the songs are about, i know the full story and back story. but you don’t. and you could interpret the song in a way i never saw coming and that could be amazing. furthermore, it’s a way to get the creative juices flowing. if you’ve ever been interested in video, now is the time to try, because you have a preset soundtrack, time, basic idea, so many starting points with you fully deciding the ending point. if it’s awesome, that will rule for both of us and everyone who enjoys it. if it sucks, who cares? it was totally worth trying. if you want to do this and don’t have a specific song you want to try out, definitely let me know, and i can steer you towards one that isn’t being worked on.

so that’s that. i hope you’ll join me in my adventures. and if you have your own that you want me to join you in, well please don’t hesitate to ask. this street goes both ways, i’m just tossing out what i’m vibing. i hope this finds you all wonderful and look forward to hearing from you. write soon.

    Black Numbers welcomes PJ Bond!

Black Numbers is please to announce the upcoming release of PJ Bond’s “You Didn’t Know I Was Alphabetical” on CD and LP. PJ, in our opinion, is as talented as they come. Having played his trade in one of our favorite bands ever, Outsmarting Simon. PJ has been busy in the years since as a member of Marigold, The Color Fred, and Charlotte Sometimes before deciding to go it alone. He’s currently on a year long tour, the next leg of which will take him to the United Kingdom. The record will be released Nov 10 and can be pre–ordered in all its glory here.

Also, in case you haven’t noticed, we’ve got a new website. Take a look around.

In an effort to raise money for the Callum Robbins Fund, we are making available ten sets of every color of Carry the Torch: A Tribute to Kid Dynamite along with a copy of a test press (limited to 20 total). We figured this would be a fun way to get some cool limited vinyl into the hands of people who are willing to support a 3 year old with an amazing spirit. Callum Robbins is the son of Janet Morgan and J Robbins, who has recorded at least half the records you listen to. Callum recently got his first haircut, has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and listens to Clutch. You can follow his story at http://callumrobbins.blogspot.com/.

Black Numbers is super excited to announce the release of Higher Giant’s seven inch “Al’s Moustache”. Higher Giant features Dave Wagenshutz from Kid Dynamite, Lifetime, Good Riddance, None More Black and Paint it Black. Dave also wrote liner notes for the Carry the Torch tribute so be sure to check that out. Ernie Parada from Grey Area, Token Entry, and Black Train Jack sings and plays guitar….Ernie did guest vocals on the Kid Dynamite cover of Birthday many moons ago and more recently graced the tribute with his cover of Benchwarmer. The band also features Jason Lehrhoff from Warzone and Grey Area and Alex Volonino who is self confident enough to not give a shit what bands he wasn’t in. Anyway, the record is fucking great and as always, we are announcing the record through our email list before the general announcement in order to give you first crack at this stuff and as a way for saying thanks for checking out what we have going on. Most importantly, this record is coming out soon, Aug 11 to exact. I’m listening to a test press now (it sounds amazing!)…we should have records back in a month and will be shipping pre–orders ahead of the street date. 1000 pressed on 3 limited colors (with some really limited packages).
