  • The Reveling - Tributaries
    6.6.11

The Reveling - Tributaries pre-sale starts today

Really stoked to announce that The Reveling's brand new gatefold LP, "Tributaries," is available for pre-order in our webstore. Orders will ship on/around June 21. We're pressing 500 Copies (100 Clear, 150 Colorlight Green, and 250 Colorlight Blue). There are also some super limited 4-Packs that include test presses of the record. Tests are limited to 30 and are on black vinyl. Only 10 of these packs will be sold, so act fast. We've also got some sexy new tees in the store. "Tributaries" is also available on CD. Here's some more info on the release:

Recorded by Alex Newport (Frank Turner, At The Drive-In, Rival Schools, Samiam) at Big Blue Meenie and Futureshock Studios, and mastered by Jeff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Dead Milkmen, Piebald, Sebadoh), Tributaries features 10 tracks of propulsive, highly infectious working-class punk rock that is as catchy and immediate as it is textured and nuanced. Much like The Reveling’s well-received 2009 EP, 3D Radio, this new full-length is anchored by a punchy rhythm section and plenty of throw-your-fists-in-the-air anthems. Still, Tributaries finds the band in top songwriting form, tighter and more cohesive than ever, with an even greater emphasis on the soaring harmonies that made The Reveling so irresistible in the first place.
    -Chuck Daley (Beartrap PR)

Go Rydell and Token Entry Announced on This is Hardcore

Good news/bad news on this one. Florida's Go Rydell were announced on Monday on what has become the mecca of hardcore festivals, This is Hardcore Fest. This year's lineup features Madball, Terror, H20, Strife, and Black Numbers artist Ernie Parada (singer/guitarist for Grey Area) getting behind the skins for what's essentially the first and only TOKEN ENTRY show in 20 years. Pretty cool shit. Bad news, This is Hardcore sold out all 1000 tickets this year in just over 3 hours, which has to be some kinda record. If you are in Philly Thursday Aug 11, figure out some way to see Go Rydell kick things off for Underdog, Foundation, and Reign Supreme at the Church.

  • Attica! Attica!/Sakes Alive!!
    3.10.11

Black Numbers Welcomes Attica!Attica! and Sakes Alive!!

We are genuinely stoked to announce the physical release of the second Attica! Attica! full length, "Napalm and Nitrogen". Previously known as the singer for De La Hoya and Marathon, our good friend Aaron Scott has created an amazing acoustic career under the A!A! name. Napalm and Nitrogen has been available for a bit in the digital only format and we thought it only proper to give it a sweet vinyl release. This version of the record includes an additional track called "The Good Ones Go First" that is available on both the vinyl version and new digital version available through the BN bandcamp. Limited to 500 and on 3 different colors, Napalm and Nitrogen is a must have for fans of good music. Following Aaron through his well publicized bike tour (Aaron toured the entire eastern seaboard on his bike playing shows along the way),his stints at the FEST, or his recent help with the "Don't Hang Out in Front of the House" compilation, A!A! is something that we've been huge fans of and are happy to be a part of. Record preorders and a sweet new T shirt are available at the Black Numbers Limited Pressing Store, and they ship in less than two weeks! You can catch Aaron and Ghost Robot Ninja Bear on a slew of upcoming west coast dates...scroll down to check those out.

Additionally, Black Numbers is pleased to welcome Sakes Alive!! to our growing roster. The brainchild of Rochester's Chris Vandeviver, Sakes Alive!! will be releasing music via Black Numbers in the form of Act III. The fourth chapter of the Sakes Alive!! story, Act III is a new beginning for SA!! in that it allows Chris the ability to create art both solo and collaborative without the pressure of losing thousands of dollars a month on touring as a method of validating his commitment to his form. It also frees that form to take shape in ways that standard punk bands can't embrace for practical reasons, notably bigger arrangements and a general "fuck it/go for it" attitude in the studio. Black Numbers will be releasing a song from Act III every two weeks, as Chris records the release in real-time. Since we're perpetually late to the party, check out "Art for Artist's Sake" and "A Toast the the Often Fabled Heart" at SakesAlive.org. Sakes Alive!!'s latest song "To Hell I'm Gone" is streaming in the player at the top of this page, and can be downloaded in exchange for an email address at the Black Numbers Bandcamp or SakesAlive.org. Chris will be updating his progress as he records via the band website as well.

We are super stoked to announce the first recording by NYC pop punk veterans Grey Area in over ten years! Dudes have been around, various members have had a part in Token Entry, Kill Your Idols, Warzone and Black Train Jack and a ton of other cool bands. Joining them on a split 7" (limited to 500 on 3 different colors) will be Florida's Go Rydell, who are following up their debut LP "The Golden Age" on Black Numbers. Some of the best dudes we know, their blend of melodic hardcore and pop punk is our sleeper up-and-comer for 2011. Both bands will be making an appearance at Generic Insight Radio Fest, the unofficial record release show. This record will be going to the plant this week, but in celebration of the release and GIR Fest, we decided to make the songs available ahead of time. Go Rydell - The Golden Age LP Delayed, Available for Free in Digital Store

This Tuesday marks the “official” release of Go Rydell’s “The Golden Age” on LP and CD. I say “official” because both the LPs and CDs are currently being pressed and so we will have to delay pre–orders until they get in which should be very shortly. Anyone who pays attention to limited colored vinyl pressings knows that the labels are at the mercy of the pressing plants, and this is no different for us. We’ll have updates as we get them. The CDs that you see in our store were actually the first 100 that we got pressed, but the band amazingly blew through those on tour (kinda one of those good but bad situations) and we are playing the waiting game on reinforcements. That being said, what matters is the music, and anyone who preordered the record will be getting a digital download of the record sent to them today. All physical pre–orders will have a little something extra for the wait. If you’ve heard the record is good but wanna try before you inevitably buy, you can check out the two week long donation based download of the record at the Black Numbers Digital Store.

PJ Bond wants to work with you

PJ asked us to post up this open letter to any/all PJ Bond fans with a knack for design/art/video production/etc:

    hello all,

i want to call all people who are feeling creative and looking for something to make and/or contribute to this summer. my goal is to get as many people trying new ideas and hopefully being able to not only showcase it for them but also to have it play a part in what i do. the two main things i’m thinking of are videos and t-shirts/posters. if you’re interested, please get in touch. pjbondmusic@gmail.com

    t-shirts/posters:
i need new designs for t–shirts/posters and have a few pretty sweet ones on hold, but would rather work with someone else and create something fun together. so, if you can draw, use visual computer programs, or have any other ways to create t–shirt/poster designs, i have ideas, would love to hear yours and have printing presses at my disposal. i’m currently working at a print shop that does awesome stuff and have been given full access to all of their shirt and poster print areas as well as to the materials, so it seems a shame to not utilize this awesome tool.

    videos:
i really want to amass a great deal of video content and think it’d be really sweet to have a video for each song from my album. sonic youth (as well as i’m sure a load of other bands) have done this and i really like the idea. i’m currently working on live videos and video shorts, but i also think that me making videos for these songs isn’t the best idea because i’m too close to them. i know what all of the nuances of the songs are about, i know the full story and back story. but you don’t. and you could interpret the song in a way i never saw coming and that could be amazing. furthermore, it’s a way to get the creative juices flowing. if you’ve ever been interested in video, now is the time to try, because you have a preset soundtrack, time, basic idea, so many starting points with you fully deciding the ending point. if it’s awesome, that will rule for both of us and everyone who enjoys it. if it sucks, who cares? it was totally worth trying. if you want to do this and don’t have a specific song you want to try out, definitely let me know, and i can steer you towards one that isn’t being worked on.

so that’s that. i hope you’ll join me in my adventures. and if you have your own that you want me to join you in, well please don’t hesitate to ask. this street goes both ways, i’m just tossing out what i’m vibing. i hope this finds you all wonderful and look forward to hearing from you. write soon.

    Black Numbers welcomes PJ Bond!

Black Numbers is please to announce the upcoming release of PJ Bond’s “You Didn’t Know I Was Alphabetical” on CD and LP. PJ, in our opinion, is as talented as they come. Having played his trade in one of our favorite bands ever, Outsmarting Simon. PJ has been busy in the years since as a member of Marigold, The Color Fred, and Charlotte Sometimes before deciding to go it alone. He’s currently on a year long tour, the next leg of which will take him to the United Kingdom. The record will be released Nov 10 and can be pre–ordered in all its glory here.
